Branding and Facebook Ad Success

By , July 17, 2011 11:54 pm

Are you one of those entrepreneurs who is focusing on branding their business or company?  If your answer is "yes", you may want to link your Facebook ad to your Facebook page.

What’s that?  Don’t have one?  Well. Let’s have a look at Facebook pages… and then you can tell me why not. Okay?

A Facebook page provides "a customizable presence for an organization, product, or public personality to join the conversation with Facebook users", according to Facebook. Its main focus is the "stream of content" provided by page administrators.

In other words, create a page for your company or yourself, providing real-time feedback, updates, screen shots and photos. Then give it a strong voice (yours), endowing the page with a definite, deliberate personality – one which you want aligned to your company mission and values. Chances are you will find you’ve created a powerful connection with your visitors. The content on your page and the feedback from real readers may help convince them to then click on your sales page link or the link to your main site, once your ad appears and people see that yours is a lively, positive page.

Another thing a page can do is charm potential customers into regular visits – particularly if they know you are going to:

- Provide them with an "insider" peek into your company’s heart
- Give them inside information
- Provide them with the latest news about your product or company
- Give them a "reward"; perhaps a special discount link, a game against other fans, or the chance to enter a contest or draw (run the latter two events by Facebook first!)

Regular users are your biggest asset – and a sure sign that you’re doing things right.

Beware of "Selling"

One thing that is key to creating a successful, strong Facebook Page: Be honest and up-front with your readers. Avoid anything that even faintly resembles hype or a sales pitch.

This should be the place they go that makes them feel as if you’ve let them slip into your private lunchroom, chatting with them like a friend and sharing things you wouldn’t share with outsiders. (Your posts will also appear in their News Feed, adding to the feeling of immediacy).

On top of this, Facebook has provided some great features to enhance your readers’ experience on your page: Options such as…

- Multi-media functional Wall (you can control what content you allow your fans to post)
- The ability to publish or not publish your posts to your fans’ News Feed
- Easy-to-navigate topside horizontal tabs containing Facebook "core" tabs such as Events and Discussion (Which you can enable… or not)
- Status update option

Check Your Stats

But perhaps its most exciting option is allowing you the ability to check your stats on viewer engagement. You’ll be able to see stats on comments and news feed use.  (This is provided through their Facebook Insights platform.)

The only real drawback?  Once you’ve created your page name, it can’t be changed or edited. (Everything else on the page can be adjusted).  So make sure you take your time, picking exactly the right name, and putting it in the best category for your ad campaign. (The category also is permanent.)

Go visit your competitors’ Facebook pages (and especially the professionally-produced pages of Big Guns like Nike and Coca-Cola) and see what features and elements you like… and what you don’t like.

Facebook pages allow you a flexible range of applications you can choose to add… or not.  These include:

- Videos
- Photos
- Events
- Reviews

And if these don’t meet your needs, check out the Facebook Applications Directory to uncover further apps that can help enhance your new Facebook page.

Yosemite National Park 5 Oz Silver Uncirculated Coin

The United States Mint on Thursday released the 2010 Yosemite National Park 5 Oz Silver Uncirculated Coin at 12 noon Eastern Time. The Yosemite coin is struck in collector quality and has an introductory price of $279.95, plus $4.95 for shipping and handling.

As mentioned in an earlier article, only 27,000 were produced, and there is a one coin per household order limit. The uncirculated coins are three-inches in diameter, contain five ounces of .999 fine silver, and sport special edge lettering. The Yosemite design, by Phebe Hemphill, depicts the iconic El Capitan, which rises more than 3,000 feet above the valley floor and is the largest monolith of granite in the world.

High demand was expected and there were some delays for those choosing to place orders early via the United States Mint website at http://www.usmint.gov, but no serious issues were reported. The Mint again forewarned customers with the following statement:

“Because of the anticipated demand for the coins, we expect that our online catalog ordering system will be much slower than usual and may encounter periods of down time," the Mint said on the product’s web page. "We apologize to our customers for any inconvenience and ask them to be patient during this time.”

The United States Mint also indicated that once the coin orders reach the 27,000 marker, it will institute a “waiting list” in case any prior order is cancelled. Orders on the waiting list will not be guaranteed fulfillment and will be notified if the Mint is unable to complete the order. Buyers using credit cards are asked to make sure the information remains current up through shipment time to avoid problems.

The two earlier issues in the America the Beautiful 5 Oz Silver Uncirculated Coin series experienced initial high volume sales of roughly 19,000 each in fewer than 12 hours. Both coins sold out in two weeks. The Mint did use a waiting list for the first Hot Springs National Park Uncirculated Coin, but it did not for the second Yellowstone National Park Uncirculated Coin.

The Yosemite National Park 5 Oz Silver Uncirculated Coins are available to anyone interested in buying them, as they are sold directly by the United States Mint to the public. Each uncirculated coin is encapsulated, packaged in a protective outer box, and accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity. The companion Yosemite 5 Oz bullion coin was sold through the Mint’s network of distributors last year. The investment-grade coin sold out with a mintage of 33,000.

In addition to the United States Mint website, buyers may place orders for the Yosemite National Park 5 Oz Silver Uncirculated Coin by calling the Mint’s toll free number 1-800-USA-MINT (872-6468).

Your Guide To Successful Forex Trading

By , April 11, 2011 11:13 pm

If you were wondering; forex trading is nothing more than direct access trading of different types of foreign currencies. In the past, foreign exchange trading was mostly limited to large banks and institutional traders however; recent technological advancements have made it so that small traders can also take advantage of the many benefits of forex trading just by using the various online trading platforms to trade.

The currencies of the world are on a floating exchange rate, and they are always traded in pairs Euro/Dollar, Dollar/Yen, etc. About 85 percent of all daily transactions involve trading of the major currencies.

Four major currency pairs are usually used for investment purposes. They are: Euro against US dollar, US dollar against Japanese yen, British pound against US dollar, and US dollar against Swiss franc. Right now I will show you how they look in the trading market: EUR/USD, USD/JPY, GBP/USD, and USD/CHF. As a note you should know that no dividends are paid on currencies.

If you think one currency will appreciate against another, you may exchange that second currency for the first one and be able to stay in it. In case everything goes as you plan it, eventually you may be able to make the opposite deal in that you may exchange this first currency back for that other and then collect profits from it.

Transactions on the FOREX market are performed by dealers at major banks or FOREX brokerage companies. FOREX is a necessary part of the world wide market, so when you are sleeping in the comfort of your bed, the dealers in Europe are trading currencies with their Japanese counterparts.

Therefore, it is reasonable for you to believe that the FOREX market is active 24 hours a day and dealers at major institutions are working 24/7 in three different shifts. Clients may place take-profit and stop-loss orders with brokers for overnight execution.

Price movements on the FOREX market are very smooth and without the gaps that you face almost every morning on the stock market. The daily turnover on the FOREX market is somewhere around $1.2 trillion, so a new investor can enter and exit positions without any problems.

The fact is that the FOREX market never stops, even on September 11, 2001 you could still get your hands on two-side quotes on currencies. The currency market is the largest and oldest financial market in the world. It is also called the foreign exchange market, FX market for short. It is the biggest and most liquid market in the world, and it is traded mostly through the 24 hour-a-day inter-bank currency market.

When you compare them, you will see that the currency futures market is only one per cent as big. Unlike the futures and stock markets, trading currencies is not centered on an exchange. Trading moves from major banking centers of the U.S. to Australia and New Zealand, to the Far East, to Europe and finally back to the U.S. it is truly a full circle trading game.

In the past, the forex inter-bank market was not available to small speculators because of the large minimum transaction sizes and strict financial requirements.

Banks, major currency dealers and sometimes even very large speculator were the principal dealers. Only they were able to take advantage of the currency market’s fantastic liquidity and strong trending nature of many of the world’s primary currency exchange rates.

Today, foreign exchange market brokers are able to break down the larger sized inter-bank units, and offer small traders like you and me the opportunity to buy or sell any number of these smaller units. These brokers give any size trader, including individual speculators or smaller companies, the option to trade at the same rates and price movements as the big players who once dominated the market.

Explore the turn-of-the-century stage to Yosemite

Saturday, October 15, 2011

The Stage Route Tour is a six-hour bus tour that explores the late 1800s and early 1900s history of Eastern Madera County, concentrating on the stages that traveled to Yosemite. The tour starts at the Coarsegold Historic Museum, 31899 Hwy 41, and offers oral history from two tour leaders, both lifelong residents of the area. The bus travels from Coarsegold to Knowles where the group visits the old St. Ann’s Church and the Hill’s Pride Inn, the second oldest bar in California. On to the Raymond Museum to explore the old railroad station master’s home (and caboose!) and the history of the area where the tourists moved from the train to the stage to head to Yosemite. On up historic Road 600 with a stop at what was a booming mining town, Grub Gulch. On to the Wassama Roundhouse for an included lunch and lecture on this Indian Ceremonial building. The old town of Fresno Flats (now Oakhurst) is next. Travel some old wagon routes, then a walking tour of old Coarsegold completes the tour. Back to the Coarsegold Museum for a tour of three buildings, (the adobe “way-station” is over 100 years old) and an afternoon dessert and tea/coffee (about 2:30-3 p.m.).

The tour is by reservation only. Tickets are $40 ($35 members). Make reservations by sending a $10 nonrefundable deposit, your name and phone number to CHS (Coarsegold Historical Society), PO Box 117, Coarsegold, CA 93614. What it is “Not” Time Management

By , March 24, 2011 4:51 am

Some of the most common arguments about not having to put time into segments of activities is that time management restrict spontaneity. It takes away the surprises that make life more enjoyable. It makes life so regimented to limit freedom.

On the other hand a person who have learned enough time management and have applied them have more predictable results, have better direction and purpose, are more successful and often ends up with more time in hand.

Correct time management is really to enjoy what one reaps. But often, time control buffs go to the extreme of gaining more time to turn it into another frenzy of activity and so on where no time is really left to enjoy the rewards gained.

Whatever the arguments are, time management has to be applied and is crucial if one has to adapt to the thrill of competition.

Time management is not meant to plunge the self into an unrelenting activity, moving every which way, ending up the day exhausted and achieving next to nothing. I know this is anal but often it is done that way.

Time management is the ability to adopt to the limitation of time that is allowed to each of us everyday focussing on the envisioned end result and not necessarily on the movement per se.

Good time management is doing things a little each time with well-defined purpose of action. It is the ability to categorize what need to be done immediately, what has to be done next and so forth, in a realistic time frame. It is the ability to discipline the self against too many procrastination and entertaining excuses that results at best to delaying what is unavoidable.

Time management is to recognize what time of the day where one is most effective and taking the opportunity to take advantage of these most productive hours.

It may not be an accident why some peoples phone rings more than others, where visitors and e-mails keeps popping up and work disruptions keeps happening. Entertaining time stealers are often the best arguments to justify why work has been done when the results are not there.

Time management does not mean having to do too much. It is planning, prioritizing, being focused and doing the most essential things whether on a personal or on a professional level without looking for arguments and justification for things undone. As reasons for not doing things exist, reasons for not doing things also exist. Up front, rationalizing may come as a validation or as an idiocy but while doing that, time ticks on without mercy.
